Heap
Send the experiments and variations a visitor was assigned to Heap as user properties.
ABlyft has a built-in Heap integration. Once it is active, ABlyft sets a user property in Heap for each experiment a visitor is assigned to. You can then filter and group your Heap analyses by variation.
What you need
- The Heap snippet is installed on the pages where your experiments run.
Activate the integration
- Open Project → Integrations.
- Find the Heap card and switch the toggle from Not active to Activated.
- Confirm. ABlyft republishes the project.
There are no settings for this integration.
What you get
| Name | Value |
|---|---|
| User property name | ABlyft Experiment ID <experiment ID>, one property per experiment |
| User property value | <experiment name>: <variation name> (ID <variation ID>) |
The property is set on User bucketed: once, when the visitor is assigned to a variation for the first time in this browser. It is not repeated on later page views.
If the tool loads slightly later, ABlyft tries again for a short time.

Where you see the data in Heap
The property ABlyft Experiment ID <experiment ID> is a user property. Use it in filters and group-bys of your Heap
analyses, for example to compare a funnel by variation.
Heap keeps only the latest value of a user property per user. User properties also apply to the user's earlier activity, so past events of a bucketed user are included in the analysis.
Heap limits user property values to 255 characters. Long experiment or variation names can exceed this limit.
Check the setup
- Open your site in a new private window with an experiment you are bucketed into.
- In Heap, check that the user property
ABlyft Experiment ID <experiment ID>appears for your own user.
Notes
The integration does not run when tracking is disabled for the visitor (opt-out or Do Not Track). Heap may need its own consent category in your consent tool.
