Projects
Create and configure projects, and archive or delete them.
A project represents one website or application where you run experiments, for example example.com or webapp. All
experiments, pages, audiences, goals and settings belong to exactly one project, and each project has its own
snippet.
Create one project per website. If you run the same experiments on several sites, for example live and staging or one site per country, keep them in one project and use environments.
Create a project
You need the role Member, Admin or Owner, see Roles & permissions.
- Click Create new project (or Create your first project if you have none yet).
- Enter a Name, usually your website's domain or something like
webapp. The name must be unique in your team. - Enter the Domain without
https://and without a path, for exampleexample.com. - Optionally add a Description.
- Click Create project.
ABlyft opens the Experiments page of the new project. Next, install the snippet, see Embed the snippet.
Project limit
The number of projects depends on your plan. If the limit is reached (or you lack the permission), the dialog shows "Usage limit reached (or no permission)" and Create project is disabled. Contact ABlyft to create more projects.
Switch between projects
Click Active project in the top bar to open Switch project. The list shows every project of your team with its number of experiments (total, running, paused, preview, draft).
Project settings
Open Project → Settings. The page Project Settings is divided into sections. Changes apply to the whole project. Members, admins and owners can edit them; viewers can only look.
| Section | What you can set |
|---|---|
| General | Name, Domain, Description and a Project logo. |
| Debug Mode | Turns on console output for debugging. See Debug mode. |
| Statistics & Analytics | The decision rules, SRM check, Auto-pause on significance and the default statistical methods, see Statistical methods. Also settings for tracking on external domains. |
| Project Activations Settings | Use SPA features, Run only on ablyft.reInit(), Allow in iFrames, Automatically clean up bucketing and the Default Page Trigger for new pages. |
| Publication Webhooks | URLs that ABlyft calls with an HTTP POST after every publication of changes. The request contains the project ID and revision. With Include JS, the snippet is included as snippet_script. |
| Default Goals | Goals that are added to every new experiment. The first goal is the primary goal. |
| Screenshot Settings | Cookies that are sent when ABlyft takes screenshots of variations in preview mode, for example to hide a consent banner. |
| Project Level Codes | JS code, JS helper code and CSS code that run on every page load. |
| Delete Project | Deletes the project, see below. |
Click Save at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
Further project settings are on their own pages below Settings:
| Entry | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Snippet | Copy the snippet and adjust how it is delivered. See Snippet settings. |
| FullStack | Only shown if your plan includes FullStack. |
| Prerequisites | Conditions that must be met before ABlyft starts on a page, see Consent manager. |
| Data Protection & Compliance | Consent and privacy settings, see Storage & privacy. |
| Environments | Run experiments on several sites or stages. See Environments. |
| Metadata | Project metadata. |
Archive a project
Archiving takes a project out of use without removing its data. When you archive a project:
- all running experiments are paused,
- all experiments in preview are set back to draft,
- the project is published so that visitors no longer see any experiment,
- the project can be restored later with Unarchive.
Archiving and deleting a project requires the role Admin or Owner. In the project list, click the archive icon (Archive project) and confirm with Yes, archive project. To bring a project back, use Unarchive and confirm with Yes, unarchive project. Archived projects can be shown with the archive filter of the list.
Delete a project
In Project → Settings, scroll to Delete Project, click Delete and confirm with Yes, delete project. The project list also has a Delete project icon. Only Admins and Owners can do this.
Delete or archive?
If you may need the project's data again, archive it instead of deleting it. For help restoring a deleted project, contact ABlyft support.
Archive single experiments
Finished experiments can be archived individually, see Clone & archive.
